Description

For India Art Fair 2022, like in the previous edition, Kolkata Centre for Creativity turned paintings into tactile artworks and publish a braille book in association with ‘Access For ALL’. In the last edition, we had transformed the artworks of Jogen Chaudhury and launched a braille book on the art of Ravinder Reddy. With the support of the Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation, this year we were delighted to convert 5 of Benode Behari Mukherjee’s collages into tactile artworks for our visually impaired visitors at IAF and beyond. We did mount some of these tactile artworks in our booth at IAF.

The Art of Benode Behari Mukherjee, a part of our ongoing series–KCC Braille Books on Art, was published by KCC. This book provides an introduction to the art and life of Benode Behari Mukherjee, brought to life through paintings which have been converted into tactile artworks (with permission from Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation) and an accompanying essay by his student, friend and fellow modernist, K.G. Subramanyan. This book was launched at the IAF by Richa Agarwal, the Chairperson of KCC, Reena Dewan, the Director of KCC, and Sheila Makhijani, artist and trustee of Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation.
