LN Tallur: Chirag-e-AI
February 18 @ 11:00 am - April 9 @ 7:30 pm

For this opening exhibition at MAP, Tallur revisited Deepalakshmi and Kinnara sculptures from the collection. Deepalakshmis are representations of the Goddess Lakshmi, holding an oil lamp or deepa in her hand. Originally, Deepalakshmis were lit during auspicious occasions because of their association with prosperity and good fortune in Hinduism. Today, these sacred objects are widely circulated and gifted by people as popular culture items, and often used at inauguration ceremonies. Tallur is interested in capturing how the meaning of such objects has changed over time.
