Philippe Jaccottet
Philippe Jaccottet (30 June 1925 – 24 February 2021) was a Swiss Francophone poet and translator. He was one of Europe’s most prominent and prolific twentieth-century poets, who won several awards for his poetry and prose, including the Petrarch Prize, the Prix Goncourt and the Schiller Prize. Celebrated for his numerous translations of works by Homer, Mandelstam, Goethe, Hölderlin, Rilke, Musil and Ungaretti, among others, his collected works have been published in the prestigious Pléiade series by Gallimard.
